History

The Greater Cornwall Chamber of Commerce(previously known as the Cornwall Business Association, Inc.) was founded in the early Twentieth Century. Although the exact date is not known, according to the amended By-Laws of December 10, 1928, the Cornwall Business Men's Association, as it was originally named, was alive and well with meetings on the second Monday of each month."

On December 8, 1952, the Cornwall Business Men's Association was incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation. In 1984 the Cornwall Business Men's Association, Inc. amended the certification of incorporation for purposes of a name change to the Cornwall Business Association, Inc. Although the name has certainly changed, the purpose of the Association remains constant.

Next Meeting
The next meeting will be February 23, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at Leo's Pizzeria and Restaurant in Cornwall, NY. Meeting cancelled due to inclement weather.

The morning breakfast meeting will restart on Monday, March 8 at 7:30 a.m. at the Cornwall Library. This is a fun networking event and all are invited. The Cornwall Local and James F. Lulves Funeral Home are co-sponsors of the March breakfast. We are looking for businesses to sponsor future breakfasts. If you are interested, please contact a board member.

At the last meeting, Helen spoke about the committees we have that will need chairpersons and volunteers. Some of the members volunteered to help out. The committees are as follows:

• Fall Festival - Randy Clark - Chairperson, Arlene DeSocio
• Chadeayne Circle - Helen Bunt - Chairperson, Gary Smith, Linda Gayton
• Main Street Grant - Helen Bunt, Mary Clark, Leonard Bakker, Nancy Obremski, Robin Hastey
• Beautification - Helen Bunt - Chairperson
• Golf Outing - Tom Quinlan - Chairperson
• Art Walk - NO CHAIR, Robin Hastey

All of the committees need more volunteers. The continuation of the Art Walk depends on the number of volunteers and a person committed enough to be Chairperson. Gail Parrinello chaired the committee for its first two years and is willing to help someone else. Anyone interested in joining a committee, chairing a committee or just getting information about a committee can email info@cornwallchamber.org or contact any one of the Board Members.
