Message from President

To all members and potential new members

I was elected as president of the Cornwall Chamber this year, at first I had concerns that time would be an issue for me in my new post as my business interests already consume a lot of my time; somehow it all seems to be working. As president my goal is to generate more opportunities for Cornwall Chamber member businesses to grow and prosper. The new board has already made some dynamic changes in the meeting formats and venues.

We have created a calendar of events in advance and in addition to our monthly meetings. We plan on having social meetings with neighboring Chambers and including many more local businesses in the Chamber. Our meetings will be designed for B to B transactions and great networking events. We have also created a new exciting committee called the communications committee which will be working on our website as well as enhancing member websites with links to promotions and events. The site will also act as a tourist guide for our community and reach out to a broad audience of prospective new customers for our shops and restaurants. As our membership grows and events are more successful the chamber will be able to contribute more back to our community and enhance some of the great scholarships and donations we currently make.

Please check out our next meeting, get involved in a committee, membership is only $75.00 per year and there are discounts for participation. If we all do a little, then no one has to do a lot.

Thanks hope to see you at the next meeting

History

The Greater Cornwall Chamber of Commerce(previously known as the Cornwall Business Association, Inc.) was founded in the early Twentieth Century. Although the exact date is not known, according to the amended By-Laws of December 10, 1928, the Cornwall Business Men's Association, as it was originally named, was alive and well with meetings on the second Monday of each month."

On December 8, 1952, the Cornwall Business Men's Association was incorporated as a not-for-profit corporation. In 1984 the Cornwall Business Men's Association, Inc. amended the certification of incorporation for purposes of a name change to the Cornwall Business Association, Inc. Although the name has certainly changed, the purpose of the Association remains constant.
