History is an event recorded in the past, learned in the present and retold in the future.
The Cornwall Historical Society was founded in 1999. Our mission statement is: “to preserve, educate and promote the history of Cornwall, Cornwall-on-Hudson, Mountainville and the surrounding areas”.
The Society presents informative programs, holds dinners and hosts many events-all of which are open to the public.
We have a showcase in the lobby of the Cornwall Public Library where many of our donated artifacts are on display. This display changes every few months.
The Society welcomes and encourages the community to donate to us its Cornwall memorabilia – books, artifacts, photographs and archival documents that you think may be of historical significance regarding Cornwall, Cornwall-on-Hudson, Mountainville or the surrounding areas.
General Membership Meetings are held the fourth Monday of the month at 7:00pm. They are frequently held at Munger Cottage, but check the website for details.
Trustee Meetings are held the third Monday of each month at 6:30pm at the Town Hall.
